Tom Millard, President

Tom started his automotive career in High school in an entry level automotive class as a sophomore. He then attended Warren Tech in Lakewood Colorado for the next two years. He then continued his education at red Rock Community College. As a sophomore, he obtained a 1962 Chevy 2 Nova convertible. Tom worked as a tune up technician and then went to work at Stevinson Chevrolet in Golden for the next seven years. Most of his career has been on the dealership life including shop foreman, dispatcher, Service manager and also a time in sales. Tom worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a vehicle technician from 1993 to 2004 working on small and large fleet vehicles.

Tom has a wife, Bonnie and have been married for 42 years. He has two sons (Bill and Daniel) who are both Eagle scouts. Tom and Bonnie worked together in scouting for 30 years and are both Wood Badge leader trained. He has been a staffer on 11 Wood Badge courses. He has two grandchildren (Emerson and Elodie). Tom spends time working with woodwork, likes to fish and do gardening.

Tom has been an ASE master certified since 1975 (when it was called NIASE) and has had his G-1, L-1, P-1 and P-2 since 2010. Tom started teaching at Warren Tech, (where he was a student) in 2004. He has been a registered member with the NACAT organization since 2004. Currently Tom is the Current NACAT Vice President/ President Protem 2019/2022. He is also a member of the Election and Finance committees. Tom has been with the board since 2017. He received the Jack Erjavec Innovative Instructor Scholarship recipient in 2017. He is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Teachers Society (formerly Colorado Automotive Teachers Society) member since 2004 and a former state president.

Drew Barnes, Vice President/President Elect

Drew Barnes is Automotive Instructor at Vale High School, in Vale, OR. He has 12 years of teaching experience with the last 9 of those at Vale High School. Vale High School Automotive Service Technology is a comprehensive 4 year high school automotive training program, which like many programs offers students the opportunity to graduate with ASE Certification. Prior to teaching he worked as an automotive technician in both a GM dealership and an independent automotive repair facility. Drew is a 2005 Graduate of the General Motors ASEP program. He is an ASE Certified Master Technician and a current NACAT board member.

Stephen Tucker, Secretary/Treasurer

Steve Tucker believes that a solid education in Basic Automotive Technology is necessary to progress, grow and become a lifelong learner as an automotive technician.  Steve is Professor Emeritus at SUNY Delhi with 32 years of teaching experience and holds a B.S. and M.S. Ed. (Career and Technical Education).   In 2016 Steve was awarded the SUNY (State University of New York) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.   Steve has been a NACAT member for over 25 years and enjoys representing the membership as a Board Member. Prior to his career in automotive education Steve worked for over 10 years as a Certified Master Technician at independent repair shops and a GM Dealership.
