Georgia Conference @ Gwinnett Technical College 2 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 1
Greetings,

We celebrated our second state conference at Gwinnett Technical College on September 16-17-18. Hosted by Toyota T-Ten instructor Larry Wehunt and CAP instructor Wes Baird 63 Georgia automotive teachers and friends enjoyed food, fellowship, networking and great technical training. We began on Sunday afternoon with a banquet at Jillian's with the dinner sponsored by CDX Global. Our dinner guest speaker was Steve Jordan of Bosch, followed by Kirk Vangelder with the latest on the new CDX Plus Online. Steve reminded us of our highly technical world we teach in and the need for continuous learning. Kirk gave us tools to meet the challanges of our classroom and the needs of students in the digital age.
Monday we enjoyed a medly of training from some of the best the automotive industry has. Toyota, Chrysler, Snap on and General Motors provided the days classes.

Monday's lunch was provided by Snap-On Corporation and Monday night we enjoyed a barbeque sponsored by Pro Cut. A trade show and presentations followed. The high light of the evening was a drawing for a Toyota vehicle that was won by Austin Shepherd. Toyota Motor Company also provided each instructor with a years subscription to Toyota Technical Information online. Almost all of the participants in the well attended trade show donated items and services to the teachers present. Chem Free Corporation of Norcross donated a "Smart Washer" to the automotive department of Gwinnett College for hosting the event.

Tuesday we capped the conference with a tour of Georgia's own Panoz factory where we were treated to first look at several "New" vehicles and the racing line up of the Panoz stable of fine automobiles. I am sure many of the teachers will buy one of the cars or the truck we saw as soon as the pay we get matches our workload.

New officers were selected to serve and the current officers will move to a board of directors to continue the vision we began over two years ago.

A few of the pictures are on my class web pages look for link to Ga NACAT pictures.

I can't wait to find out where next year's conference will be.

Seeya,
Sonny Reeves

Sounds like a great event Sonny. What suggestions would you have for the NACAT officers and board to help you continue and make your event even better?

I am not comfortable in a reply to who ever you are. Even on this forum. Please reply with a real name and you will get a real reply.
