Short bio: I grew up on a mixed (cattle and grain) farm near Boissevain, MB. I started in the automotive trade immediately after completing high school. I attended Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, and completed my apprenticeship while working in a local garage. After completion of my apprenticeship, I moved to the bright lights of Winnipeg where I worked at several garages before getting the opportunity to share what my experiences with young learners. I started at Red River College in 1994 teaching automotive students, but later also did some instruction for the bus manufacturers, and aerospace industry in Winnipeg before moving into an administrative role with an outside training division of the college. I returned to teaching in the automotive department in 1999 and joined NACAT a year later.

Since starting at the college I have completed a Certificate in Adult Ed, an Industrial Vocational Teachers Diploma (both from RRC). In 2002 I embarked on a B.Sc. in Technical Education from Ferris State University (Big Rapids, MI) and completed in 2004. After assisting with the 2011 conference I started working toward a M. Ed from the University of Manitoba, which I completed in 2014.

I have been married to Faye for 23 years (she might say longer) and together we have three children that all know something about NACAT because they have attended many conferences.

What has NACAT done for me and what it means to me:
NACAT has allowed me to learn from some of the best in our industry, and get to know them personally. Attending NACAT conferences has allowed us to travel around the continent and make friends at every stop. NACAT Conference, to us, means going to see our friends.
