Short bio:
Hello All,

I am a Professor in the automotive service technology program in the Technical Department at Joliet Junior College in Joliet Illinois.

I was born in Oklahoma and will always be a "Sooner", but I currently reside in Plainfield, Illinois. Plainfield is about 30 miles west of Chicago. It is a great place to live. It is close enough to enjoy the fun and the flair of the big city, and far enough away to enjoy the quiet life in the suburbs.

My educational background is varied; I have an Associates degree in Automotive Service Technology, a Bachelors degree in Organizational Communication and a Masters Degree in Adult Education.

Most of my working career has been spent somehow related to the automotive industry. I worked as a technician, shop foreman and a service manager in the retail sector over a period of 14 years. I worked for the Chrysler Corporation another 14 years as a technical trainer. During the last five years at Chrysler, I also worked as an adjunct professor for several colleges in the region teaching automotive. In 2008, after Chrysler eliminated my division, I went to work at Joliet Junior College full-time. These last few years have been the most rewarding of my career.

In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors. I am a leader for the Boy Scouts and an avid backpacker, covering over 500 miles in the last six years. I also love to kayak and canoe.

My wonderful wife, Tammy, and I have four daughters and one son. My oldest daughter is an elementary school teacher in the area; my son just completed his service to our country in the United States Air Force. He is not pursuing a teaching degree. My second daughter just graduated from college with a degree in medical massage therapy and is beginning her career in that field. My last two girls are sophomores in college. One of them is studying physical therapy and the other is studying a combination of social work and sign language. As you can imagine, we enjoy a hectic schedule and a very busy house.

What NACAT has done for you or means to you:
I discovered NACAT in 2008 in Charlotte North Carolina. Through my association with NACAT I have discovered a wealth of tremendous resources. My fellow NACAT members are experts in their fields and are very willing to share their vast knowledge any time. Their willingness to share has made the classes I teach a better learning environment for my students. In short, NACAT has made me a more effective and innovative instructor.
